We at Work for NRI helps you to get the Person Of Indian Origin (PIO).A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) means a foreign citizen (except a national of Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and/or Nepal), who: at any time held an Indian passport.
As per the rules of India (Part-I, Section-I) which was published on 9th January 2015, each and every existing Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) card holder are registered as such under the new PIO Card scheme 2002, can be deemed to be Overseas Citizens of Indian Cardholder.
All PIO card holders having valid PIO cards as on 09.01.2015 are advised to apply for a conversion of their PIO card to OCI card immidiately .
Bureau of Immigration shall accept PIO card as a valid document till March 31, 2019 with the geniune foreig passport. Micr document is mandated by the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) code of conduct. Meanwhile if any deadline is notified by the ICAO, they are making hand written PIO cards as a invalid card, then PIO card holders shall have to obtain appropriate visa by Indian Missions, if they have not converted their PIO card to OCI card. However, the India Immigration check posts can be continue to consider all PIO cards valid for exit/entry into India till 31st March, 2019.
